Parent contribution
The Waldorf school works with a voluntary parent contribution. This funds what the regular education budget does not cover, such as eurythmy, seasonal festivals, specialist teachers and materials. The parent contribution is €300 per child per year. Tailored arrangements are possible, a conversation with the school leader is always welcome. No pupil is ever turned away because of financial circumstances.
Parent council
The parent council thinks and decides along on school policy. Parents and teachers are represented together, so that important choices are made with everyone in mind. Want to have a say or raise a topic? Email the school and we will connect you with the council.
Parent portal
Day-to-day contact between school and home runs through our parent portal: messages, photos and the class calendar all in one place.
Working groups & parent activities
A Waldorf school is a community, and it stands or falls with parent involvement. We have working groups for:
- Seasonal festivals (Helping build, cook, tidy up)

Frequently asked questions
The questions parents exploring our school often ask. Missing a question? Call or email us.
What exactly is Waldorf education?
Waldorf education is a form of education that arose more than a hundred years ago and is now taught at a thousand schools worldwide. Core idea: education follows the development children go through naturally. That means: rhythmic, artistic, with attention for head, heart and hands. We value stories, craft, seasonal festivals and the seasons.
Does de Zevenster prepare children well for secondary school?
Yes. Our pupils reach the year 8 level, take the national transfer test, and move on to VMBO, HAVO and VWO, both regular and Waldorf secondary schools. We guide the transition carefully.
What does it cost to have your child at this school?
Primary education is free in the Netherlands. We do ask for a voluntary parent contribution to fund eurythmy, seasonal festivals and specialist teachers. If money is a concern, a conversation is always possible. No child is ever turned away over money.
Do you also use digital devices?
Not in the kindergarten and first classes. From class 4 we use digital tools where they strengthen learning, such as research, presenting, learning to type. We are deliberately restrained: handwriting, the hand and conversation come first.
Is de Zevenster anthroposophical?
The Waldorf movement originally grew out of the ideas of Rudolf Steiner. We use the pedagogical principles that come from that, not the worldview itself. Our pupils come from all backgrounds. We do not discuss worldview with the children; we do celebrate the seasonal festivals with their imagery.
What if my child needs extra support?
We have a learning support coordinator who works with the teacher to see what a child needs. For specialist support we work together with the Brabant partnership. During an introductory conversation we look honestly at what we can offer.
Can we come and have a look first?
Certainly, and we recommend it. Four times a year there is an information morning (in groups, with a tour), and by appointment you can also plan a personal conversation with the school leader.
